Realistic paediatric training, without the risk.
Dual-Purpose Training | Safe for Peer-to-Peer Learning | Fits Manikins
The ActFast Child Vest is a groundbreaking training tool with a brilliant dual purpose. For schools and youth groups, children can wear it to safely practice life-saving abdominal thrusts on each other without any risk of internal injury. For adult learners and paediatric first aid trainers, the vest straps perfectly onto a child-sized manikin, allowing adults to practice the specific posture and force required to treat a choking child. When the correct technique is applied, a foam plug shoots into the air, providing instant, engaging feedback!
One vest. Two ways to train.
Kids can safely practice on each other.
Adults can practice on a manikin.
Plastic shield protects the wearer.
Plug shoots out when done right.
How it works
You cannot safely perform abdominal thrusts on a real person. The ActFast Child Vest solves this problem in three simple steps, whether your students are 8 or 80.
1. Strap it on
A child volunteer puts on the vest, OR a trainer straps it securely to a child-sized manikin. The built-in rigid plastic shield completely protects the wearer's ribs and internal organs.
2. Load the plug
Insert one of the provided foam plugs into the airway mechanism at the front of the vest. This perfectly simulates a foreign object blocking the airway.
3. Perform the rescue
The student applies the abdominal thrust manoeuvre. If their hand placement, posture, and inward-upward force are correct, the plug shoots out instantly!
🌟 Building muscle memory that saves little lives
Experience the exact technique required for children.
"Treating a choking child feels very different to treating an adult. You have to adjust your height and gauge the correct amount of force. For adults, strapping this vest to a manikin builds vital muscle memory. But for children learning first aid in schools, putting the vest on and practicing with their peers is incredibly empowering. It teaches them that they, too, have the power to save a life."

Your questions, answered
Absolutely. If kids are practicing on each other, the vest features a rigid, built-in plastic shield that sits right between the child and the air bladder. This shield completely absorbs the physical force of the thrusts, keeping the volunteer 100% safe and pain-free.
No, it's completely up to you! The vest is designed to be worn by a human child volunteer for peer-to-peer learning, OR it can be strapped to a standard child-sized manikin if you are training adults.
Yes! The vest includes a foam back pad, meaning students can practice the full paediatric choking rescue protocol safely: back blows followed by abdominal thrusts.
Equip your students with the confidence to act.
